The idea for West of the Sun developed from a series of concerts featuring music from the Americas. Pianist Joel Fan has long been interested in the rich history of the New World and the array of cultures that have populated it and influenced its music. He performs music from nine very different composers, each illustrating one facet of this complex hemisphere.
