How much "real food" can you find on the road?

The BBQ Train, found at the Short Stop gas station on Bloomington's East Side was definitely the highlight of the trip.

I have to admit, I was not thrilled about sampling hot food from gas stations. My roadtrip food is usually snacks I've brought from home--almonds & chocolate, fruit, maybe some sesame sticks. If I do get something from a gas station, it is likely to be chips or candy. I completely avoid the food under heat lamps.
