Bortniansky: Cherubic Hymn, No. 7

Dmitri Bortniansky was born in the Ukraine, then part of the Russian Empire. His considerable talent soon took him to the Imperial Chapel where at the age of seven he began to sing and study music and composition. His master and the current director of the chapel choir, was an Italian, Baldassare Galuppi, who had been brought to Russia on the request of Catherine the Great.
