Linking Early Music: Baroque Opera, Chopin, and BREMF

The links for this week take us to Europe, including a few on baroque opera, a preview for the upcoming Chopin Year, and the schedule for the Brighton Early Music Festival.

A Handel opera performance with a "Chinese Spin" gets an interesting review.

The Versailles Chateau Opera House reopens after a two-year renovation.

Jean-Philippe Rameau's opera Hippolyte et Aricie caused a scandal in its day.

The year 2010 will be a Chopin Year and someone has already started looking at this past by searching for the Polish pianist/composer in the present.

The Brighton Early Music Festival ( BREMF) will take place in October and November. You can expect a terrific line-up of artists and a little something extra.

In case you missed this week's posts, here they are:

"Questions for August Denhard" - The executive director of the Early Music of Seattle tells us about the scene in one of the West Coast's great Early Music cities.

"Vivaldi's 'Four Seasons' and the 21st Century" - A famous work meets postmodern theater.

"What's on YouTube: Arcangelo Corelli" - A bit about one of the baroque's great composers and an excellent video.
