There is an old quote about spiritual practice: Discipline is remembering what one wants. This would seeming involve the convergence of experience and values. Maybe our resistance to discipline or focus is the belief that we may have left something out, that we will cease discovering if our gaze becomes too fixed. But what one wants is not necessarily what one has. So then, is happiness remembering what one has?
