Film scholar James Naremore is Emeritus Chancellors’ Professor of Communication and Culture and English at Indiana University. He has taught film courses at IU and other schools for more than thirty years, and co-founded the IU Film Studies Program.
He has lectured widely in the U.S. and Europe on subjects such as film genre, acting, adaptation, and modernism. His books include The World Without a Self: Virginia Woolf and the Novel, Acting in the Cinema, Filmguide to Psycho, The Films of Vincente Minnelli, The Magic World of Orson Welles, More Than Night: Film Noir in Its Contexts, and his latest, On Kubrick.
