All of Indiana’s 24 state-owned parks are offering free admission Sunday.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources will offer free admission this Friday to all Indiana State Park properties that charge a gate fee.

Since John Bacone joined DNR in 1978, the number of nature preserves in Indiana has grown sixfold: from 46 to 300.

Also ranked No. 13 for Most Instagrammed State Parks, assistant property park manager Patrick Halter attributes the park’s success to its staff and uniqueness.

The application deadline is drawing near for hunters to participate in deer reduction hunts at 19 state properties in November.
