Brown County State Park was named one of the top 10 most beautiful American state parks in a recent Travel Lens study.

Brown County’s assistant property manager Patrick Halter attributes the park’s No. 6 ranking to its staff and uniqueness.

“We love this place and try to do our best to take care of it,” he said. “It's not surprising to me, this place, it draws all kinds of visitors. We have a diverse user group. We have all types of stuff for people to do here.”

The study combines customer reviews from Yelp and TripAdvisor with Instagram and Google search popularity. At 56.98% aesthetic reviews, the park is frequently called “beautiful.”

In addition to the scenic views, the park features dozens of activities including mountain biking, more than 250 campsites, horseman’s camps, over 70 miles of horse trails, a lodge with an indoor water park and more.

The average number of daily visitors depends on the season, Halter said.

“In the winter we're not seeing as many people,” he said. “But in the fall is probably when we get our most visitation and we'll see, you know, a couple thousand visitors a day coming through the gates on those busy Saturdays.”

The study also ranked Brown County State Park No. 13 for “Most Instagrammed State Parks.”
