Officials in Hancock County argue that a local nonprofit group can’t provide proof of ownership for much of the collection of writings, furniture, paintings and other items.

Two Indiana regions will get $4.5 million after the state named them 2018 Stellar Communities Tuesday.

The Health and Heritage region, which includes Greenfield, Fortville, and Hancock County, will focus on substance abuse treatment, expanding trails and revitalizing their downtowns.

The New Allen Alliance will focus on increasing economic growth and quality of place. That region includes Grabill, Leo-Cedarville, Monroeville, New Haven, Woodburn and Allen County.

Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch (R) says there are multiple benefits to these types of regional collaborations.

"It’s not just a partnership among the community," she says. "It’s a partnership with the state to be able to transform those regions."

Crouch says each community will work with professionals from Purdue to continue to develop a plan that accomplishes their goals.
