Lotus Director Stepping Down After Five Years

Lotus Education and Arts Foundation hosts the annual Lotus World Music and Arts Festival in Bloomington.
Lotus Education and Arts Foundation hosts the annual Lotus World Music and Arts Festival in Bloomington.

The executive director of the Lotus education and arts foundation is stepping down Tuesday after five years leading the organization.

The music festival celebrated its 25 th anniversary in Bloomington last year, and planning for this year’s festival is underway.

Sunni Fass says she’s been working in nonprofit arts for 20 years, and she thinks it’s a good time for her to step down.

“I’m simply at a place where I’m ready to explore some other passions, stretch some other professional muscles, you know, and just explore some other interests,” Fass says.

Fass says she’ll keep working on global issues in the international realm.

The board of directors has started the search for her replacement. There’s no deadline for choosing a new director.

Fass says Lotus is nearly finished with renovations on a new center and music venue in an old fire station off Rogers Street, and they’ll begin programming there this spring.

And she says the festival has a core group of about 600 volunteers who help keep it going. Fass says she’s excited to join that group after she steps down.
