Gaming Commission Accepting Proposals For Vigo County Casino

The Indiana Gaming Commission is now accepting proposals for a new Vigo County casino.

That comes as the commission Wednesday approved a Gary casino’s move inland – a move which opens the door to a gaming venue in Terre Haute.

Gaming Commission executive director Sara Tait says casino operators have until Dec. 1 to submit proposals for the Vigo County facility.

“We will be engaging with Indiana University’s Public Policy Institute to provide analysis of the impact of each proposal upon the local community," Tait says. "And we will also use our outside financial analyst to conduct a review concerning each applicant’s submitted financing package and overall financial suitability.”

Also necessary to open the Vigo County casino – voters there must approve a ballot referendum this November.
