Body Found In Search For Missing Kayaker In Greencastle

Authorities say the body of a 29-year-old kayaker has been found after he disappeared under the water of a rain-swollen western Indiana creek over the weekend.

The state Department of Natural Resources says searchers Monday morning located the body Timothy Wells of Indianapolis along Big Walnut Creek in Greencastle.

The search began Saturday evening when a group of six kayakers reported one person in their group tried to pass over a low-head dam near the Greencastle City Water Treatment Plant but didn't resurface.

Officials say Wells' belonging were found in the churning water below the dam, while his body was found about 600 yards downstream.

The creek about 30 miles west of Indianapolis was high because of recent heavy rains in the area.

Two men are in critical condition after being rescued from the White River in Indianapolis on Sunday.
