Hoax Bomb Threat Shuts Down Indianapolis Jewish Community Center

A bomb threat shut down the Jewish Community Center in Indianapolis on Monday. Local law enforcement searched the area but ruled the threat a hoax.

Indiana was one of several states where Jewish Community Centers or Jewish Schools were targeted today.

Lisa Waite, Director of Marketing for the Jewish Community Center in Indianapolis, says she's relieved no one was injured.

"We're very happy that this turned out to be a hoax and no one was harmed," Waite says. "We are concerned about the antisemitism that seems to be behind these threats."

Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett released a statement saying he's appalled by the threat.

He says the people of Indianapolis, of all faiths and backgrounds, should work together to make the city a welcoming, safe place for all.
