A Middletown man was one of 15 Marines and one Navy corpsman killed when an air tanker crashed in Mississippi on Monday. Ryan Lohrey was a 2005 Shenandoah High School graduate.
The Marines say the KC-130 refueling and cargo plane went down in a soybean field near Itta Bena, Mississippi. It was based at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, New York, and headed to California after picking up crew from a Marine base at Cherry Point, North Carolina.
Lohrey played football at Shenandoah and the school's athletic director says Lohrey will be remembered at the school's first football game this fall.
