Monroe Co. Residents Come With Questions To Annexation Meeting

The first of six open house meetings took place at Bloomington City Hall last night – for Monroe County residents to voice concerns and ask questions about the city's proposed annexation of county property.

At the meeting, residents had access to officials from different departments. The city also provided computers where people could post questions and comments to the city website. There was also a place to hand write any issues, and a court reporter was present to transcribe input from county residents.

Monroe County Resident Reed Adams says he came to express concern about the scope of the proposal.

"My biggest concern is just the sheer magnitude of the annexation," Adams says. "It's 10,000 square acres and 15,000 people. It is a lot of expansion for the city."

Meetings are being held each day this week. The times are listed on the Monroe County website.
