Muslim Organization Countering 'Offensive' Billboard With Own Sign

GainPeace, a Muslim organization based out of Chicago, has launched a three-part campaign in response to the ‘Perfect Man' Billboard on I-465.

The billboard includes six bullet points under the text ‘The Perfect Man."

GainPeace Director Sabeel Ahmed says it paints an inaccurate and offensive picture of the Prophet Muhammad, the founder of Islam. So they purchased the billboard space nearby for their own message.

The counter billboard says "The Truth About Muhammad" and includes a phone number people can call to ask questions.

Ahmed says about 200 people have already called.

"We want to help our fellow-Americans learn Islam from the souls, not from some diluted or fake news," Ahmed says. "And once they know what Islam is we hope and pray that they do appreciate- they may not accept it, they may embrace it, but at least they will appreciate it."

In addition to the billboard, which will be up until July 30, the campaign also includes distributing 15,000 post cards with information about Muhammad's life and a 30 second video for social media.

GainPeace has also put up billboards in Chicago and Dallas as a part of a larger national campaign to educate people about Islam.
