Northern Ind. Man Faces Latest Charge Alleging He Hid HIV Status

A northern Indiana man previously charged with failing to tell women he had sex with that he's HIV-positive is facing another such charge.

Thirty-seven-year-old Travis R. Spoor of Silver Lake was charged Tuesday with malicious mischief involving infected bodily fluids. He's being held at the Kosciusko County jail on $251,000 bond.

A woman told police she had unprotected sex with Spoor four times after they met on a dating website, but Spoor never disclosed he's infected with the virus that causes AIDS. That's a legal requirement in Indiana.

Court records show the woman discovered Spoor's real identity and then his HIV status after finding his ID when he left his wallet behind.

The (Fort Wayne) News-Sentinel reports Spoor faces similar charges in three other cases.

A message seeking comment was left Wednesday with Spoor's attorney.
