Replacing Vandalized Signs Along Popular Trail Will Cost Hundreds

The non-profit Sycamore Land Trust says it will cost hundreds of dollars to replace signs people vandalized last year at one of its preserves.

Some signs were defaced with rocks others were removed from posts along the Beanblossom Bottoms Trail in Ellettsville.

Sycamore Land Trust Communications Director Abby Perfetti says each sign will cost more than $100 just to print.

"What we're doing is looking into more vandalism resistance signage," Perfetti says. "If people want to break something, they're going to find a way to do it. But we're looking at ways to post them that are sturdier, put them further away from the trails sometimes."

Perfetti says there are cameras along the trail the organization can monitor if there are any vandalism issues in the future.
