At Town Hall Constituents Write Letters For Congressman

A packed house showed up for a town hall last night in West Lafayette, but the person most people had hoped to see in attendance wasn't there.

Organizers set up the event and invited Republican Rep. Todd Rokita. They were hoping to have a conversation with him while he's on recess this week from Washington. Rokita did not respond to their invitation.

Victoria Woeste organized the event.

"We organized this as a meeting rather than as a protest or a rally because we are sincerely trying to keep things civil," said Woeste.

The attendees broke up into groups based on topics including things like women's issues, immigration, Russian ties, the environment, and education. They drafted questions on their respective topics to send to Rokita's office, since he wasn't there in person.

We reached out to Indiana's two senators Todd Young and Joe Donnelly as well as a number of representatives including, Trey Hollingsworth, Susan Brooks, And Jackie Walorski, but didn't hear word that any of them were holding town hall's with constituents during this week's congressional recess.

Across the country some Republican members of Congress were greeted by protestors this week at town hall events.
