Prosecutors have charged a 28-year-old man with murder in last week's fatal shooting of a police officer in Indianapolis.
Marion County prosecutors charged Jason Brown on Tuesday with one felony count of murder in the July 27 slaying of Southport police Lt. Aaron Allan. He also faces a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge.
Brown was hospitalized after another officer shot him following Allan's shooting. He remains hospitalized and is scheduled for a Thursday initial court hearing on the charges. A judge has ordered him held without bond.
A probable cause affidavit says Brown was dangling upside down in his car after it overturned in a crash when Allan approached to help him.
The affidavit states that Brown opened fire on Allan, who suffered 11 gunshot wounds, including one to his heart.
