A central Indiana nursing home and rehabilitation facility has been cited by the state after a resident suffered apparent heat exhaustion in May.
The Indiana State Department of Health says a maintenance supervisor at Lindberg Crossing Senior Living in Anderson noted air conditioning units affecting one hall weren't working on May 25, the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, but the facility administrator wasn't notified until May 29, the day after the holiday.
The Herald Bulletin reports the state says outside temperatures were between 86 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit (30 and 35 degrees Celsius) during the weekend. On the holiday, one resident was taken to a hospital.
The facility says in a statement that "corrective measures were implemented" and it "will continue to strive to ensure the well-being of each resident."
