Two Bloomington Kroger Locations Will No Longer Stay Open 24 Hours

Two Bloomington Kroger locations will no longer be open 24 hours a day.

Kroger spokesperson Eric Halvorson says the stores on south State Road 37 and N. Kinser Pike will operate from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. beginning  Nov. 25.

Halvorson says the change stems from the company executives evaluating sales and customer counts.

"We can serve our customers just as well even if we cut back our hours a little bit," Halverson says. "Plus, there are three other stores in Bloomington that are 24 hour stores so if people need something overnight, they don’t have to go far to find it from Kroger."

The Kinser Pike location is one of six Marsh stores in Indiana that closed and reopened as a Kroger. Halvorson says the change in hours won’t create any layoffs, but shifts may be adjusted to allow for more staff during peak hours.

"It’s enough of a challenge just to staff the stores as they are so were constantly looking for good people and constantly hiring," he says. "So if we have experienced people we don’t want to lose them."

Store locations at Liberty Drive, College Avenue and College Mall will remain open 24 hours.
