Temperatures in Indianapolis tied a cold-weather record originally set in 1879 Friday.

Friday morning’s 24-degree low has happened only twice before on Nov. 1 since temperature records in the Indianapolis area began.

According to the National Weather Service, the record was first set in 1879 and tied in 1949.

This record comes exactly one month after Indianapolis saw record high temperatures for Oct. 1 in the 90s.
