Another moving truck got stuck under the railroad bridge on Indiana Avenue, exactly one week after the driver of a different truck did the same thing.
Last week’s incident involved a Ryder rental truck. This week, the truck was from rental company Penske.
President and CEO of Indiana Rail Road Co. Peter Mills says this type of thing does happen more frequently in Bloomington because of the number of railway bridges in town.
He says while these collisions don’t usually cause damage to the bridges, if there were to be damage, the driver of the truck would be held responsible.
Mills says it is typical to see rental trucks getting stuck.
"You see somebody that’s not typically driving a truck, so it’s a rental truck, or it’s a new driver to that geographic area," he says. "The people that drive vehicles regularly in Bloomington know where they can drive and they can’t drive."
He says they get reports of similar incidents eight to 10 times a year.
