Part of South Fairfax Road in Bloomington was reopened last night after a closure due to a gas main break in the area.

Officials closed the area to outside traffic Tuesday and warned people to stay inside their houses or away from the surrounding outside area while crews worked to shut off gas supply to the line.

Monroe Fire Protection District spokesman Jason Allen says repairs to the broken line are still being conducted as of Wednesday afternoon, but Fairfax Road and surrounding roads are completely open to traffic.

Allen says any danger passed late Tuesday afternoon when crews were able to shut off the gas supply, and gas service was restored to homes in the area Tuesday night.
