Energizer Plans Indiana Packaging Center, Would Employ 440

Battery maker Energizer is planning a packaging and distribution center in central Indiana that would employ more than 400 people.

St. Louis-based Energizer Manufacturing Inc. wants to open that center in a 933,000-square-foot shell building at the Franklin Tech Park.

Franklin Mayor Steve Barnett says city officials began meeting about two months ago with Energizer representatives about the project in the city about 25 miles south of Indianapolis.

Energizer wants a 10-year tax abatement on about $4.1 million in real property and about $58.5 million in personal property.

Bradley Migdal is senior managing director with Cushman and Wakefield, which helped Energizer with site development. He says the center could bring 440 jobs by 2022 and nearly every battery Energizer sells would be packaged in Franklin.
