Teacher Rally Tuesday: MCCSC Plans To Stay Open

On Tuesday, thousands of teachers will convene at the Indiana Statehouse for the “Red for Ed” rally.

Many school corporations have canceled classes for that day because they don’t have enough teachers to cover all their classes.

As of Friday afternoon, officials at the Monroe County Community School Corporation said classes would be in session as normal.

Assistant Superintendent Dr. Andrea Mobley said in an email that several teachers are planning to attend the rally and that many other teachers are showing their support of public education in other ways, such as wearing red clothing, walk-ins, yard signs, and photo opportunities at the buildings.

Mobley also said the district is communicating with all of its guest teachers and paraprofessionals to let them know there is a high demand for class coverage that day.

Mobley says MCCSC's principals, administrative assistants, and central office staff are working strategically to make sure all classes are covered.
