Authorities say a man was wounded in the face in a shooting that happened while he was driving on Interstate 465 on the southeast side of Indianapolis.

Indiana State Police say investigators were searching for whoever fired at the man about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the highway’s southbound lanes near I-74. Police say the man was taken to a hospital in stable condition and he’s expected to recover.

Police say the gunfire came from a car that pulled alongside the driver’s car. Two other people inside the car that was fired upon weren’t injured.

Investigators didn’t immediately say what led up to the shooting but said they didn’t believe it was a random attack.
