Bloomington Residents Can Expect To See Fewer Electronic Scooters Available Over The Winter

Wason says the city is still working on getting more signs up around town for scooter dismount zones.

Bloomington residents can expect to see fewer electronic scooters available in the coming months.

Bloomington Public Works Director Adam Wason says scooter companies Bird and Lime informed the city that they would be reducing the number of scooters available around town during the winter.

He says neither of the companies specified exactly when this would happen and it would be dependent mostly on weather.

“There is the possibility that one or more of the companies will remove all of their scooters for the winter,” Wason says.

Wason says Bird and Lime moved their scooter inventories to southern locations last winter, though he’s not sure if they plan to do the same this time.

Wason says a few other companies have approached the city about getting licenses to drop scooters in town, but only VeoRide has made any official headway.

VeoRide has not yet recieved approval from the Bloomington Board of Public Works.
