Reveal Reporter Stands By Article On Amazon Worker Death

A reporter with Reveal and the Center for Investigative Reporting stands by  his story that alleges Indiana officials manipulated an investigation into an Amazon worker’s death to protect the state’s bid for the company’s second headquarters.

On the public radio talk show  All IN Thursday, reporter Will Evans said his team won’t follow Gov. Eric Holcomb’s demands that Reveal retract the article and apologize, as outlined in a  cease-and-desist letter last week.

Evans said he made repeated attempts to speak with state officials and that several public records requests were never fulfilled.

“To say that we didn’t do a deep reporting job at the same time you’re not doing interviews or providing records… it’s just frustrating, obviously,” Evans said.

Evans said he and Reveal stand by the story and are not concerned about losing a case, should Holcomb decide to sue.

Holcomb published a statement last week saying he “will not let the false accusations” about him and Indiana state employees stand. His cease-and-desist letter also targeted the Indianapolis Star for republishing the report.
