Owen County Councilmember Andrew Woodall called for County Commissioner Jeff Brothers to resign from his position in a public Facebook post Monday night.
Woodall condemned Brothers’ actions during the Commissioners’ meeting on Nov. 18, when Brothers baselessly accused County Auditor Patty Steward of corruption, and said Brothers had made Owen County the “laughing stock of Southern Indiana.”
Woodall did not mention Brothers’ pursual of a festival ordinance that Spencer Pride, the local LGBTQ advocacy group, says directly targets them. Local businessowners have also decried the ordinance proposal, saying it will likely end up hurting business.
The Owen County Commissioners will next meet Monday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. They are expected to have an edited festival ordinance ready for public reading.
