Several of the Indiana Memorial Union food and dining services on the Bloomington campus are closing as part of a large renovation project.
The Chocolate Moose, The Globe, Green Leaf, B-town Pizza, Sakura Sushi & Hot Bowl, and Sugar and Spice are set to close later this month and plan to reopen in January 2021. The Crimson Grill closed last week.
The Circle Café, Starbucks, The Tudor room and the Union market will continue to run through the 2020 calendar year.
IMU executive director Hank Walter says the food courts have not been renovated in almost 30 years.
"What we’re trying to do is update that old common space and the food court to try to make it feel more like a place where students want to be hear and hang out,” he says.
Walter says the new design of the dining area is very different from now and will add more sitting space for students.
The IMU will compensate the closure by adding more hours to the Circle Café, and breakfast will become a daily option in the Tudor Room starting January 2020.
