Bloomington Police: Parking Meter Vandalism Case 'Inactive'

Police say the search for a suspect in the case of more than 100 vandalized parking meters around downtown Bloomington has been suspended.

Bloomington Police Captain Ryan Pedigo says the case has been marked inactive because investigators were unable to locate surveillance footage that clearly showed the faces of those responsible.

In late October, city officials discovered 125 parking meters had been disabled with expanding foam and covered in pink spray paint. The city estimated the damage at $5,000.

As part of the investigation, police collected surveillance video from downtown businesses on and around the square. However, they were unable to identify those responsible.

Pedigo says the department also did not receive any tips from the public about the vandalism.
