New Loogootee Library Offers More Space, Community Resources

The new Loogootee Library is three times larger than the previous facility.

The Loogootee library has moved into its new facility - a building three times bigger than its old location.

The library got a USDA grant for a more than one-million-dollar loan to fund the new building.

Library Director Darla Wagler says the library has expanded its services, including having a space for WorkOne, the state's workforce development program.

"They offer services, as far as helping you with your resumes, job searches, uploading those resumes, which a lot of the organizations require now," Wagler says.

Wagler says they have issued 54 new library cards since December; that’s compared to an average of eight new cards a year at the previous location.
