Franklin College announced Saturday that it had suspended its search for a new president, naming Acting President Kerry Prather to the role.

Prather took over in January after the college's previous president, Thomas Minar, was arrested in Wisconsin and charged with child sex crimes.

Prather previously coached the men’s basketball team at Franklin College, winning more than 500 games before becoming athletic director in 1990. He later served on the school’s President’s Cabinet.

A news release from the college says it will renew its presidential search in March 2021.
