The Monroe County School Corporation is searching for a new superintendent.
Dr. Judy DeMuth announced her retirement this week, effective June 30 or until such time the board approves a replacement, whichever is later.
DeMuth has been superintendent since 2011. She announced her resignation during Tuesday night’s MCCSC school board meeting.
“There is no better school board for students and staff, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from administrators and teachers, who are not only great but iconic in what they provide for our children ,” DeMuth said as she read from a prepared statement.
During her time as superintendent, DeMuth advocated a $7.3 million tax referendum that voters approved in 2016.
She also pushed for improving diversity training and improving curriculum standards in 2018 after offensive language appeared in some materials used in a social studies class.
