Monroe County’s health administrator, Penny Caudill, says the agency is evaluating its resources and determining what it might need in case of a local coronavirus outbreak.
“We’re working with our local hospitals and other community officials got planning, looking at our plans, looking at the 'what-ifs,'" Caudill says. "We hope that it doesn’t come to that.”
The Centers for Disease Control announced this week Americans should prepare for nationwide spread of the novel coronavirus.
Caudill says people should practice basic good hygiene. They should also think about what they would do in the event that they can’t go into work for two weeks.
She says people with children should have a plan in the case that schools or child cares close for one to three weeks.
There are no confirmed cases of the coronavirus in Indiana, but the State Department of Health says 26 Hoosiers are currently being monitored.
