A new mural in the alley next to the Bluebird Nightclub off of North Walnut Street will be finished up this week.

The mural depicts a pair of bluebird wings made from names of all the bands who’ve played at the nightclub.

The mural will be artist Adam Long’s fiftieth. He says he’s seen a lot of murals with wings, but he’s trying to make his a little different.

“My canvas is a lot different than you would normally see. I put a lot of work into the different textures and different tones, glitter and shine and metallic, all of these different things that really popped,” he says.

Long says there will be 450 names on the mural by the time it’s finished.

Owner of The Bluebird, Dave Kubiak (Koo-bee-Ak) commissioned the painting.

Long says he has another mural planned for Kubiak’s nightclub, a hyper realistic bluebird that will go on the back outside wall of the club.
