Marie Yovanovitch, the former United States ambassador to Ukraine, will be honored with the Richard G. Lugar Award at Indiana University Friday.

The award is part of the fifth-annual IU “America’s Role in the World” conference, hosted by the Hamilton-Lugar School of International Studies. Yovanovitch, who is a 1979 graduate of the Hamilton-Lugar School’s Summer Language Workshop, will give remarks followed by a moderated discussion and questions from students.

President Trump recalled Yovanovitch from her post last year, after allegations she obstructed and undermined Ukraine’s efforts to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden.

In her testimony to a congressional committee last fall, Yovanovitch said the allegations were false.

The event takes place Friday, March 6 at the IU Auditorium. Doors open at 10:45 a.m., and the event begins at 11:45. It is open to the public.
