Coronavirus Demand Causing Williams Brothers Pharmacy To Ration Supplies

Williams Brothers Pharmacy in Bloomington is rationing supplies due to the demand for cleaning materials.

Manager Leilani Hirasuna has had to put limits on things like masks, disinfectant wipes, hand sanitizer and rubbing alcohol.

“Earlier this morning I had a nurse from a nursing facility come in and she was needing disinfectant wipes,” she says. “And I just – I can’t get them in. They’ve all run out of stock. It’s generally something that we have for them. But we just don’t at this time.”

The pharmacy ran out of masks weeks ago, and is doing its best to keep up with demand.

Hirasuna says there’s a chance they could have to ration things like cough medicine or ibuprofen if demand surges drastically, but people shouldn’t necessarily rush to the store to stock up on supplies – because there’s no remedy you can buy at the store.

“Just trying to keep it contained to yourself, just covering your mouth and your nose. Just so those droplets don’t infect someone else. There’s really nothing over the counter. It’s just waiting it out and just being patient and getting rest.” (Leilani Hirasuna, Manager, Williams Brothers Pharmacy, 8:03-8:20)

She says if you’re not feeling well and able to – send someone to the pharmacy or store to get supplies for you.
