The Indiana University Student Labor Council is asking for clarity from the university on its plans for part-time workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The group is comprised of organizations representing student and worker interests on IU’s campus.
In a Thursday night press conference, they say the university did respond to some of their initial concerns:
IU President McRobbie sent out an update this week stating employees whose supervisors say their work can’t be done from home will still be paid in full.
But, Arielle Paré, an IU undergraduate student and employee says it’s unclear what this means.
“So our main concern in the RPS call today was will we be paid according to our scheduled times or the average amount per week. They did not answer this question,” she says.
The group also wants a statement from the university that no employees who are unable to work because they contract the novel coronavirus will lose their job.
