During the statewide Stay-At-Home order, people can still expect to see construction happening out in the community.
Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton says construction projects are considered essential services under the governor’s orders.
Hamilton says the hope is to allow the state economy to continue where it can, rather than have a complete freeze in wages.
“Those projects as they can be done with physical distancing are one of the ways we can keep payrolls going, keep the economy going,” he says.
Hamilton says this could change as the virus spreads.
"We are trying to keep as many people working safely as we can in those essential businesses."
He says several public construction projects will continue for now, including the IU Health Bloomington Hospital site.
