With 24 More Deaths, Indiana Coronvirus Death Toll Tops 100

Twenty-four more people have died in Indiana from coronavirus-related illnesses, boosting the state’s virus death toll past 100 while its confirmed cases topped 3,400, state health officials said Friday.

The new deaths increased Indiana’s statewide deaths to 102 for COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus, while another 408 confirmed cases of the virus boosted the state’s total to 3,437, following corrections to the previous day’s total,  the Indiana State Department of Hea lth said.

The state also began providing county-specific testing data Friday.

The ISDH count now shows 278 tests from Monroe County. It's unclear if those tests are tests conducted on Monroe County residents or if they were just given at facilities in Monroe County.

Monroe County currently has 40 state-reported positive cases and no deaths.

Brown County's positive count is three people, with just 11 tests and zero deaths.

The department has said that the additional deaths it reports each day occurred over multiple days. Those deaths are reported once there is a confirmed positive test for COVID-19 in each case.
