Newsrooms are very collaborative places, our newsroom likely more so than the average, because when we report a story we’re usually doing it for four platforms: radio, TV, web and social.
A half-dozen or so people might touch a single script. And of course, there’s a lot of technology and equipment involved in our newsroom. We have cameras, audio recorders, green screens, editing suites, soundproof studios and more.
A few weeks ago, we would have thought it would be impossible to continue our work remotely, but a crisis situation forces you to get creative.
Our News Bureau Chief, Sara Wittmeyer, compiled this behind-the-scenes look at how our news team is continuing to cover the news during the coronavirus pandemic.
We live in this community and like you, we have questions about how this virus is going to affect us, our families and our colleagues.
We’ve invited you to send in your questions and we’ll work to get answers. You’ve sent in hundreds of inquiries and our digital team is working with a lot of other folks in the newsroom to get those answers back out to you regardless of the platform you use to get your news.
Please keep submitting them; we love hearing from you!
We’re going to continue to do our best for as long as it takes to cover this story. Sign up for our daily coronavirus newsletter if you want to make sure you don’t miss anything.
And we’re always evaluating our coverage and critiquing our stories. If you have feedback to share reach out to Sara at sarawitt@indiana.edu.
