Lotus Organizers: This Year's World Music Festival Will Be Virtual

The 2020 Lotus World Music & Arts Festival will be virtual this year, organizers announced Friday.

In a statement and video message on the Lotus Education & Arts Foundation website, Lotus Director Tamara Loewenthal says the decision was made after determining that "physical distancing is working to flatten the curve."

Loewenthal announced that the four-day festival is still on, but will be held in a "virtual community."

"Audience members will be invited to participate in numerous ways to engage with online performances and activities, to dance in their living rooms, to eat festival food, and to purchase Lotus merchandise," she says.

Lotus, scheduled for Sept. 24-27 this year, is one of Bloomington's biggest events and normally draws thousands of attendees and volunteers to the downtown area.
