The tents set up outside IU Health Hospitals in Bloomington, Bedford, and Paoli will be removed May 28, according to an announcement sent out by IU Health.
The tents were set up in March to help handle an influx of COVID-19 patients coming to IU Health hospitals for screening and testing.
In the announcement, Katy Howe, IU Health Bloomington Hospital director of emergency services, says the tents are no longer needed, as hospitals have “redesigned patient flow and facilities,” to handle proper care of patients.
The release says, “COVID-19 testing is available, but must be ordered by a physician after the patient completes a COVID-19 screening through their healthcare provider or via the free coronavirus (COVID-19) screening using the IU Health Virtual Visit app. Based on the screening results, a healthcare provider will recommend and facilitate appropriate care and provide direct access and communication with local hospitals as medically appropriate.”
