Bloomington's Outdoor Pools To Remain Closed For Season

Bloomington city officials announced Monday that it will not open its two outdoor pools this summer due to continuing concerns about the community spread of COVID-19.

According to a news release, Bryan Park Pool and Mills Pool will remain closed for the entire summer season in the interest of public safety. City Parks and Recreation Department Administrator Paula McDevitt says officials had hoped to open the two pools, but after reviewing federal and local guidelines, decided against it.

"While we are disappointed to have to keep our outdoor pools closed this season, we are excited to announce that the new spray pad at Switchyard Park is slated to open later in June," McDevitt said via the release.

The release says social distancing and personal hygiene recommendations will still apply to the spray pad at Switchyard Park, which opened late last year.
