Indiana DNR Updates Reopenings To Recreational Activities Amid Pandemic

Hopkins says some conservation officers are driving DNR trucks with over 200,000 miles on them.

The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says campgrounds, inns, restaurants, park offices and nature centers are reopening across the state. Camps, picnic shelters and other rentable spaces opened up Monday with crowd limits of 100 people or less according to a news release.

Offices are also issuing passes, permits and fishing licenses after a brief halt put in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All DNR public pools will remain closed for the 2020 season due to lack of room to adequately social distance on pool decks. Though most beaches will reopen since space allows for social distancing.

Canoes, kayaks, paddleboards and more can be rented at several state parks. For the most up-to-date information on what is open and closed visit DNR's website here.
