The Monroe County Commissioners are expanding their COVID-19 Relief Grant program to include businesses located in Bloomington that promote tourism in the entire county.

This means that restaraunts located in Bloomington still can't apply for county funds.

The money comes from the 1 percent food and beverage tax. Commission Vice President Lee Jones says applications still are being accepted.

“To date, we’ve granted 245,000 dollars," she says. I would like to point out that these are grants, and not loans so they’re really helping people out.”

To be considered, the businesses have to promote tourism in the county.

Jones also says regular county commissioner meetings will resume  June 15.
