Monroe Co. To Move To Stage 4 Friday, With Few Exceptions

Monroe County will move to Stage 4 of Gov. Eric Holcomb's reopening plan Friday. That will be in line with the rest of the state, except for some extra restrictions on bar-area seating and mass gatherings.

Holcomb announced Wednesday that the state would move to Stage 4 two days early, further easing coronavirus restrictions. Monroe County is currently in a modified Stage 3, following the same rules as the rest of the state but with a smaller gathering size limit: 50 people instead of 100.

Similarly, in Monroe County's move to Stage 4, mass gatherings will be limited to 100 people rather than 250.

Monroe County Health Administrator Penny Caudill says the county is still ironing out the details of  an extra requirement for bar seating; restaurants and bars will be limited to 50% capacity.

Caudill says the county will release more details as soon as possible.
